Information & Policies for Puppy Kindergarten Class

- Puppy Kindergarten is open to all dogs 5 months and younger at the start of class.  We also accept
Toy breed dogs up to the age of 7 months (at the start of class) in Puppy K.

- Puppies don't need to have had any previous training to join!

- Puppies 5 months and younger should have had at least 2 rounds of vaccinations before attending
class
or a letter from your veterinarian stating it is okay for your puppy to attend class.  Puppies
attending outdoor classes must have a current rabies vaccination.  Owners must provide us with a
copy of their dog's vaccinations for our records on the first night of class.  Puppies must be free of
internal parasites.  Although not required, we recommend your puppy is on some form of flea/tick
prevention.

- 15 minutes prior to the start of class is "Puppy Playtime".  Puppies must remain on-leash at our
outdoor classes but will be permitted off-leash at our indoor classes.

- The first night of class is Orientation Night for people only - please leave your puppy at home.  We
will discuss the class rules, our training methods, how dogs learn, dealing with common behavior
issues and puppy issues, and proper training equipment.  If you are attending our Brady's Run Park
classes, we suggest bringing along a folding chair for Orientation Night - picnic benches aren't all
that comfortable!

- Everyone who lives with the dog is encouraged to attend class!  Children ages 6 and older are
welcome to attend class with their family.  Children 12 years and older are welcome to handle the
dog (if physically able).  We ask that younger children remain seated during class and not walk
across the training area.  Although the puppies in class are very cute, children should be aware of
dog safety and understand that not all dogs (or puppies) may be used to or comfortable around
children.  Please remind your children to always ask permission to pet someone else's dog!

- Your puppy should be a wearing a regular buckle collar or a
Martingale style collar.  Please have
your puppy on a 4' or 6' nylon or leather leash.  Your puppy must be on leash at all times unless your
Instructor gives the okay to drop leashes (puppies may be permitted off-leash during playtime at the
Instructor's discretion, indoor classes only!).  Flexi-Leads, choke chain collars, prong collars, and
electronic shock collars are not permitted in class.

- Please remember to bring ample poop bags to clean up after your puppy when necessary.

- We will provide fresh water for the puppies in a "community" bowl.  You are more than welcome
than to bring your own bowl/water for your puppy.

- On Orientation Night we will discuss our favorite treats for training.  If your puppy has any food
allergies or is on a special diet due to a medical condition, please talk to your veterinarian and ask
him/her to suggest an appropriate treat for your puppy.

- Puppy Kindergarten class is not the appropriate place to deal with serious behavior problems such
as aggression or fearfulness.  Although it's not all that common, we have occasionally seen serious
behavior issues in young puppies in class.  If we determine your puppy would be better suited to
private training sessions, we will excuse your puppy and the remaining class fee may be applied to a
private session.
