Giles is my 3rd retired racing greyhound.  "Giles' Count" (Giles Blues X Riverwood Bessie) as he was
known during his racing days, is now happily enjoying retirement.  He is seven years old. Giles loves
to for walks in the park and then sleep for the rest of the day.
He is my "Puppy Politeness Monitor" and accompanies me to my
Puppy Kindergarten classes and interacts with the young puppies.

I adopted Giles from a greyhound rescue in Vermont.  He raced at
Mardi Gras and Flagler tracks in Florida before being graded out of
the system and pulled for adoption.  Giles was brought to Vermont
for a specific family but was returned about a week later because
they said he wasn't housetrained.  Giles was bounced around to two
or three foster homes before I adopted him.  He had a long
adjustment period once I brought him home.  His biggest issue
in fact wasn't housetraining but jumping.  When he was excited, he
would jump straight up in the air and tap you on the shoulder - just in case you forgot he was there!
He also has some mild resource guarding issues over toys and chewies.  Over the years, Giles has
mellowed into a calm, dignified dog who loves to stretch out on his bed for a good nap in the sun or
go for a long walk.

Like my two greyhounds before him, Giles is easily stressed by new situations.  However, he is a very
smart boy and enjoys playing shaping games to learn new skills.
Oh please, no more pictures!
Ever see a 90lb dog curl up into a
2' X 2' space?
I'm not sleeping, really.  The
sun's in my eyes.
Yum! Treat ball time!
First night in his new home.
