We are excited to be offering two AKC Canine Good Citizen test sessions this summer in
Brady's Run Park.
These test sessions are open to the public and a great way to earn an award for
your dog's good manners!  The Canine Good Citizen test is a program sponsored by the American
Kennel Club as a way to reward and recognize dogs with good manners, thoughtful training, and the
appropriate temperament to be good canine citizens in society.  This test is open to both pure breeds
and mixed breeds of all ages.

The CGC test is a fun, non-competitive activity to enjoy with your dog.  If you are interested in
becoming in involved in canine assisted therapy in nursing homes or hospitals, this is your first step.
No matter what your goals for your dog, passing the Canine Good Citizen test is a great achievement
you can be proud of!

The test consists of
ten exercises all of which the dog must pass successfully to earn a certificate
from the AKC.
Click here to visit the American Kennel Club's website and learn more about the
CGC test.

FAQ's
What kind of training does my dog need to take the test?  Click here to view a list of the ten
exercises in the test.  The skills on the CGC test are basic skills every dog should know such as
coming when called, not jumping on people, and exhibiting all around good manners.  These are
behaviors taught in nearly every basic level manners or obedience class or you can take a class
specific for the CGC test such as our
Canine Good Citizen class.

What breeds of dogs can participate?  The CGC test is open to ALL breeds of dogs not just AKC
recognized breeds - rare breeds, "designer" breeds, and mixed breed dogs are all welcome!  Dogs of
any age can be tested as well.

*This form reserves your dog's place in our test session and lets us know you're coming.  When you arrive for the test,
we'll ask you to fill out an official AKC test registration form.
