Pawsitive Results Professional Dog Training & Behavior Services Beaver Falls, PA ~ (724) 847-0577
Aggression Consultations Pawsitive Results specializes in "problem dogs". Our Aggression Consultations are for dogs of all ages and breeds with serious problems that require assistance beyond basic obedience training.
We offer Aggression Consultations for problems including: • Aggression toward people • Fear biting/fear aggression • On-leash reactivity toward other dogs • Dog-dog aggression in a multi-dog home (intra-pack aggression) • Possession aggression (resource guarding) • Aggression toward cats
We use a variety effective training techniques rooted in science of animal learning, above all keeping our techniques pain-free and humane for the dog.
We accept aggressive dogs on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us and we'll determine if we can help you. When we accept a client with an aggressive dog, we will help you do everything reasonably possible to safely manage and improve your dog's behavior. However, we expect you as the dog's owner to follow our advice and maintain careful management to keep other people and dogs safe (depending on your dog's issues). This is your responsibility as a dog owner - a biting dog is very serious and presents a liability, even if the dog is only aggressive 5% of the time. If at any time we feel an owner is not following our advice and/or is not managing an aggressive dog in the way we believe is best, we will terminate the training relationship.
You will be asked to complete our Canine Behavior History Form and mail it back to us. Once we receive your form we will call you to schedule your consultation*.
During the 1-hour "house call" session we'll discuss your dog's history and offer an explanation as to why your dog is behaving this way. Strong emphasis is placed on educating owner on how to safely manage an aggressive dog through the use of muzzles, gates, fences, crates, etc and the effects of living with an aggressive dog (effects on family members, other pets, other people, your safety, liability, etc).
We'll present a training/management plan customized for YOUR dog and will let you know approximately how long it will take to improve the behavior and how many "house call" training sessions may be required. At that point, if you decide to move forward with our advice and we feel you have the commitment required to handle an aggressive dog, we can schedule additional sessions as necessary. Some issues will not require additional "house calls" and those clients are encouraged to keep in touch via phone or email as they work with their dog.
We do not sugar-coat aggression problems and will "tell it like it is". That means if we feel a dog is unsafe to work with or poses a risk to the safety of the owner/family, other people, or other dogs, we will be very straightforward and honest about this and discuss possible options. As you can tell, we take aggression VERY seriously and will only work with owners who are committed to following our training plan and taking necessary measures to keep themselves, other dogs, or other people safe.
Sessions are generally 1 hour in length, but longer can be arranged. Clicker training is available at owner's request.
